Forest primeval near 11,000 feet
Yes, it’s my birthday. Nagasaki took the second a-bomb on the day I came into the world. I’ve always felt a connection to what happened to so many souls back then. How could one not? Last year on my birthday I hiked alone up the trail you see here to a pristine wilderness meadow just below the timberline, where I found something that just knocked me out.
This year I’ll pick another day to hike, maybe tomorrow in fact. Today I’m off to Santa Fe with my honey, on the trail of art and enlightenment. You have to keep looking for the latter, it washes off so easily.

Happy Birthday some more John…mine was July 16th … turned 54! Then 10 days ago my dentist was leaving Oklahoma to visit Taos and Red River and asked me and my wife to go…and I almost did…then the next day my appendix attacked HA ! Probably a good thing I stayed home as I may not have been as lucky as you were in Taos with the surgery bill etc….although the surgeon DID state I also have a hernia….hmmmm wonder why she didn’t fix that while she had me doped up already ??? go figure….. anyway, Happy Birthday again, hope you stop in Chimayo on the way back for some pretty good green chile…and maybe some healing dirt at the Santuario….OK OK I admit it…I am jealous again…ciao for now….Steve
