The Ole "About FarrFeed" Page

I don’t think enough of you bother to click on it (see sidebar), so here’s the latest version as a blog post. Yeah, I know, the real reason is the latest cool picture I took of myself with the built-in camera on my MacBook. So what, here goes:

* * *

FarrFeed began as a Salon blog in 2002. In March, 2006 I switched to WordPress for my spontaneous, experimental publishing engine — so far, so good. I love the software and this medium.

As for me, my main site at JHFarr.com features books, columns, personal essays, MP3 audio downloads, ebooks, and links to all my work. If you like photography, check out FotoFeed, my daily New Mexico image site (you can work your way back through hundreds of spectacular shots). Sometimes I blog and post articles at MyMac.com, where I’ll be hosting future podcasts. Mostly though, I want to go exploring. I’ve done a lot of things in this life so far but only now grasp that all boundaries are self-imposed. No more fighting the current, either, because holding on will only hold us back.

Greetings from Taos, New Mexico, U.S.A.

Occasionally people ask me how I got here. My answer of the moment is that sometimes you have to give up everything to find your way home. In 1999 my wife and I left Maryland for New Mexico (you can read about it here). What a wild and scary thing to do, so why on earth?!? Well, a pal of mine in Taos has a spiritual teacher on the West Coast, a Zen Buddhist, quite elderly now. Years ago she told him, “Your life is none of your goddamn business!”

Which kinda says it all, or should.
