Count me in as one who would always do anything, even at this late stage, to live this music. I have, too, after a fashion, with my ES-335/12 and the ole Fender Twin Reverb. Mostly by myself, but there have been lots of jam sessions in my life. Hoo boy.
LOUD is good. Very, very good.
Well, a friend loaned me the DVD of the 2005 John Fogarty “Long Road Home” concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. I had some Web work to do today and decided to run the DVD on my PowerBook G4 just so I could listen, routing the sound from the laptop to the Twin Reverb, heh-heh… But as soon as I started it up, I had to plop down on the sofa, right in front of the amp, and watch the whole damn thing. Oh man. No drugs, no booze, just LOUD LOUD music. I put the DVD away 20 minutes ago and I’m still shaking. This was Fogarty, remember, and “Fortunate Son” has never been more relevant.
In fact, the amp is still on, with its little red pilot light glowing at me from under the desk. I think I’ll go plug in the Gibson, since my wife is out of the house.
It IS Saturday, after all, and rock & roll will never die.
[BTW, that picture is a close-up taken with my Pentax ist DS from the screen of my ancient titanium PowerBook G4. See the cursor?]
