Snow Report [Updated]

For all half a dozen of you who’ve been waiting with bated breath, here’s what it looks like out the kitchen window this a.m. It’s still overcast and snowing, so the image is kinda dark:

No howling fury, only this!

That’s the neighbors’ house and woodpile. The big storm passed south of us, so we didn’t get any wind or drifting, and only about 4-5 inches of the white stuff. We might get a couple more inches. No biggie for these parts. I just took a broom to the car and brushed off the night’s accumulation. When the sun comes out, I’ll have more pictures.

UPDATE: 10:00 a.m., still snowing…

UPDATE#2: 12:13 p.m., um, still snowing. Schools closed. Snow wimps everywhere. I just backed our ’89 Dodge out of the steep driveway in half a foot of snow without any problems, hah.

I must be one of the half dozen wondering what today was like up there. At 4:45 it’s still snowing here in Pecos area, non stop since early a.m. tho mostly blowing snow and really only 4-5″ accumulating.

When I moved here in ’71 from Illinois I was driving an old (don’t remember the year) 4-door Mercury that I’d bought for $50. (yes, that’s one zero). We arrived in August but in December I wanted to drive out to Puye cliffs, snow bedamned, and did it in the old Merc. Not a track in the snow except mine. I drove out in same 4-5″ as today and back again no problemo. Ah crazy youth. Something about being naive that is a protection. Still works.

Have a good evening around the Ashley.

I must be one of the six too……the snow looks wonderful….I’ve been watching it snow on the Santa Fe Plaza webcam……all we have here is rain, yuck, and 75 degree weather. Great pics lately, John. Thanks

Sigh. All we have here is sunshine and 55 degree weather – which is freezing cold for us wimpy San Diego people!

John- Thanks for the reply and well wishes! I am certainly looking forward to enjoying the snow this time of year… the low dipped to 78 today here in FL!!!

Off the subject… I was recently introduced to the wingmakers.com site… some of the content seems a bit fetched, but most of it seems firmly rooted in common-sense fundamentals, if you believe everything is connected (which I do). Anyway, since the material seems to originate from a purported discovery made in Chaco Canyon… I was wondering if you have ever heard of the wingmakers and if so, do you have any opinion about same? Thanks!

Ty, I’m sure you’re right about everything being connected. [See "Drama on the Compound," above] But I haven’t heard about the wingmakers. I just visited the site — beautifully done, BTW — and will have a look later on. I may or may not offer an opinion, but thank you very much for pointing it out.
