Blocking Out the Sun

Er, yes. That’s the government’s suggestion for solving global warming. From an article in the Sydney Morning Herald. There’s a whole lot more, but isn’t this enough?

The US wants the world’s scientists to develop technology to block sunlight as a last-ditch way to halt global warming. It says research into techniques such as giant mirrors in space or reflective dust pumped into the atmosphere would be “important insurance” against rising emissions, and has lobbied for such a strategy to be recommended by a UN report on climate change…

We get to keep polluting, and all we have to do is pump reflective dust into the stratosphere. American ingenuity at its best! There’s a Halliburton contract in there somewhere, praise the Lord.

That makes as much sense as suing McDonald’s because you’re obese or the tobacco companies because you smoke. Unless this is a thinly veiled scheme to justify the use of nuclear weapons against Iran because of, you know, nuclear winter and all…
