Snow…

in Earth, New Mexico, Taos

[UPDATED] Ah, springtime in the Rockies. It’s snowing very nicely now, though only about 30 degrees. The forecast is calling for light freezing rain, freezing fog, and two to four inches of snow in various places, mostly east of here. I have piñon burning in the wood stove, not going anywhere.

New Mexico is so weird when the sun isn’t shining and you can’t see the mountains. Almost like, oh, Indiana.

UPDATE: Good Lord, it’s raining! No, I mean, really. Water falling from the sky. If I walked outside, I’d get wet. Doesn’t happen here very often, folks. Most of the time, you can leave all your junk lying around in the yard and nothing will happen to it. I can’t get over it, rain falling straight down. Passed the two-minute mark a second ago and it’s still doing it. Somebody call the TV station.

hey there big guy,
it was snowing here earlier, we got about an inch on the lower shore, which means they actually got some on the upper shore, up in your old haunts, i’ve been researching metal detecting, using the wireless connection to hang by the fire with the laptop all day, throwing what’s left of the woodpile into the stove all day, nursing my banged up shoulder. Kate’s off to see Creighton for the weekend, left me baching it. it’s funny how one can fall right into the good old ways of letting things pile up, plenty of time to obsess about topics dear to ones heart, even if only for the moment and a couple of days. And plenty of room in the bed to spread out and snore with impunity! ahhhhhhh, spring , it’s as whacked cold as the winter was warm!

We didn’t color the easter eggs, just left them white. Hide them in the snow real well here in southern Ohio and 29 deg. Hey, just like New Mexico

Well, as it turns out, there wasn’t any accumulating snow at this altitude (7,000 feet). It actually snowed a bunch though, and now it’s raining. This is the SOUTHwest, after all… But there’s fresh snow on the mountains all around from about 8,000 feet up.

I know all about reverting to bachelor ways. When Kathy takes a trip, I don’t do dishes until I’m out of spoons, bowls, or coffee mugs, and in very short order, I’m staying up until 4:00 a.m. on a regular basis. So you snore too, eh? Sometimes Kathy has to grab a comforter and head for the sofa.

Kinda cold for southern Ohio, Frank! Hope you’re doing well after your “incident.”

Looks like it’s “being Indiana” out there again today John. Happy Easter. I’m up on the ski road, and when I pull out to the end of my street, sometimes that wall of white that shrouds the mountain starts about 300 yards away. It looks like you could walk up to it and touch solid. You’d never be able to prove it, but I think that behind that curtain, the mountain “goes somewhere else” when this happens. I like when this happens on the coast and you can stand in the damp sand and experience the same thing. But at least the ocean makes noise, so you know it’s still there.
