Great Essay

in Change, Consciousness, Earth, Nature

And a short one, too, by Johanna Macy. I found this at a site called the Center for EcoLiteracy:

A revolution is under way because people are realizing that our needs can be met without destroying our world. We have the technical knowledge, the communication tools, and material resources to grow enough food, ensure clean air and water, and meet rational energy needs. Future generations, if there is a livable world for them, will look back at the epochal transition we are making to a life-sustaining society. And they may well call this the time of the Great Turning. It is happening now.

Considering that it comes from an ostensibly rational, non-woo-woo source, I’d count this as more confirmation that something is going on. That’s why I called it great, although maybe I should make that “nice.”

Nothing here that’s really new, but the positive take is refreshing.

Thanks for that. Until recently, quiet despair has seemed to dominate most things I’ve read regarding the future. There seems to be a new breeze of hope, spinning the prayer wheels in my soul…

Read the revised post just in front of this one! I’m feeling better, too. Time to BUST OUT of this hole we’re all in.
