Another reason to love Taos.
Very entertaining and helpful blog, btw. I appreciate hearing the downsides that are not immediately visible when visiting Taos.
Taos ain’t no paradise… but it IS very, very different from anyplace else I’ve ever lived. And that difference is important.
I’ve always maintained that anyone who comes here to “retire” is insane. It’s not that kind of a place. The raging psychic energy and the physical difficulty of living in the high desert (COLD, dry, dangerous) compel the kind of self-examination few can tolerate for very long if they’re not up to it.
That said, and if one survives, the highs are outstanding. I would find it very hard to live anywhere else after being here, although I might be much better off, comfort- and complacency-wise, in a more “normal” setting.
