I love that ... no piano until you learn these two pieces ... my experience wasn't quite so generous: I was given a guitar (I used to joke that they used telephone wires for the bass strings and that the neck was a "nailed on" rather than a bolt-on) and told I could have a better one "once I learned to play". I wasn't told what to learn, but I set out to teach myself (thank you Mel Bay). So I did .. But instead of the gift of a new guitar, I had to buy the new one myself. Ah, well.
