Went to bed Tuesday night — er, Wednesday morning — at 4:00 a.m., got up at 7:45 a.m. Had a 90-minute nap Wednesday afternoon during which I actually slept for maybe 40 minutes.
It’s after 1:00 a.m. Thursday now. Working on new website, having fun. I just spent a good two hours analyzing and backward-engineering some CSS to figure out how to get a custom header image to sit flush against the top of the page with no white space underneath. This would have been easy if I’d just jumped in instead of assuming there was a cooler approach I had to find.
The Thesis theme for WordPress has a very slick feature whereby you use a custom.css stylesheet to override selected rules in the main stylesheet. Not too esoteric at all, really, but the custom stylesheet only needs to have styles you want to override on the main stylesheet. I thought it would be nice to copy an original style into the blank custom.css and then mangle it the way I wanted, but I couldn’t FIND certain things. I know that sounds ridiculous, but they just didn’t seem to be there — hidden code, buried where I still don’t know to look. Anyway, the upshot was that I wrote some custom styles from scratch that I thought might zap the ones I couldn’t find, and after some trial-and-error games, it worked! Hah. Kind of like the old game of battleship.

12 degrees F. outside, 60 degrees where I’m sitting, probably 75 in the adjacent room where the woodstove is, and a lot hotter if you’re sitting close to it. God, I LOVE piñon…
Bath!
