It’s come to that. I need to get my body out into the world.
I just emailed my Aussie Web marketing consultant in Adelaide to tell him I needed to come down for a bodysurfing lesson. I’ve been possessed, you see. Too much living in my head. It’s like I can’t be trusted to do anything right for myself today, although yesterday was one of the happiest days of my life, what can I say?
No doubt there’s a lot of self-doubt and performance anxiety involved here. Damn stuff sneaks in when you least expect it. The thing is, I was enjoying so much feeling outrageously smart and clever (hee-hee), getting into subtle SEO esoterica well in advance of having anything ready to be searched for, that I didn’t see the backside of that, namely fear of making a mistake! So there, class, is how a prideworthy virtue can mask a gaping vulnerability.
Ya want proof?
I spent too much of Sunday obsessing over WordPress permalink structure. I’m sure most of you don’t even know what that is, and by now I don’t either. But it determines what the links to the permanent full single posts look like, and each permutation of the abominable variants has its own crowd of cultists defending its interpretation of what the great god Google is really looking for behind the curtain. It’s completely crazy-making. On the simple question of whether or not it’s a good idea to include the catergory along with the post name, there are yes, no, maybe, and 37 other answers. You can count on a 50/50 split for any related question, too.
I complained to my consultant. He pointed out that if opinion was equally divided, then possibly EITHER alternative would work… (DUH!)
So please, somebody haul me away from this. I have reached the realm where a particle becomes a wave and vice-versa simultaneously. Lost in quantum codespace, I am, all because of demanding empirical solutions where none exist. Once again, the lure of certainty and security have me walking off a cliff!
