Bobbie Jo: I know exactly what you mean, especially on that side of the gorge. "Heading towards Mordor," yep. Not many people out that way, but beautiful (or scary) most of the time.

this reminds me of a visually amazing drive my husband and i made from caliente springs to taos via the gorge. surreal edge of the world kind of feel. darkening clouds and angry looking mtns. we felt like we were heading towards mordor. and every so often in the middle of nowhere one of these roads would just pop up. (it got really interesting half way thru the drive when we noticed our gas gauge. as fireside used to say: though E usually stands for excellent in my book, i believe we're out of gas.) we still talk about that drive. i didn't have a camera. so glad you did. thanks.

No, I got a link from John Cole at Balloon Juice, spiking my traffic from 115 visitors yesterday to 1,297 today, so I thought I'd acknowledge the fresh faces. "Welcome, Balloon Juice!" is what I was aiming for, and it sounds like I got pretty close, har.

And I'll bet the wide open spaces above are PUNY compared to Australia. Man, do I ever have to get down there.

Hi there.

Just been trying out the translator at the new MS search offering, Bing.com

I thought I'd test your header, ¡Bienvenido Jugo del Globo!, which I thought would translate as "welcome to the world juice".

But nup.

At Bing we get:

!Juice globe welcome!

And Google translate provides:

Welcome to the Balloon Juice!

Was it ballons you was after or the world, del mundo?

;-)
