The Fiestas have come and gone — las Fiestas de Santiago y Santa Ana, to be precise — but not before I whipped out my Kodak Zi6 and made myself obnoxious walking through the crowd!

What’s a funnel cake?
A funnel cake is your basic bread or doughnut batter, only dribbled through a funnel into boiling fat.
This hot, greasy, fried mess is dumped onto a paper plate and then doused with powdered sugar or honey. You eat it w/ your fingers. Navajo fry bread is almost the same thing, only without the funnel, just a blob of dough.
I know there’s an Aussie equivalent. This kind of food is universal.
