Saturday Morning Video: Real New Mexico!

It’s one of those perfect days: sunny, 61°, dry and quiet, almost no wind. The scrub jays and magpies are fighting over the sunflower seeds, and we still have hummingbirds. Other than them, the neighborhood is empty. All in all, pretty much the way I like it.

Here you go, then. Another video in the “Real New Mexico” series: five short clips from a five-minute walkaround. The only thing I didn’t get to show you are the birds — they all flew away when I stepped outside.

(I hope you watched! If you didn’t, you missed a dumpster, a dead car, rabbit brush in bloom, my wife hanging up laundry, the acequia, and the dead landlord’s apartment. Go on, play it again.)

i’ve been curious for a while (since you first mentioned it): since the landlord is dead, what exactly *is* your rental situation? is it being handled by a relative of his, a bank or some such organization, or are you perched precariously on the edge of somebody suddenly noticing “hey wait a minute, i own that!!” and kicking you out (one of the motivators for your search for an impending move)?

Nah, the whole thing is in probate (still). We just pay the estate through a niece. Nothing on the horizon to force us to move, it’s just that this place has never been quite big enough. We look every day for the right spot, but we’re very picky. :-)
