Well, it won’t be long now…

You’re looking at the lower slopes of Taos Mountain as seen from our house just south of town at around 8:00 a.m. this morning. I think that’s freezing fog, but later when the clouds lifted, you could see patches of snow for a while. I take a lot of pictures of what people here call “the mountain.” I can’t help it, especially when the clouds are on the ground.

Back in Maryland, one rarely saw this kind of thing, at least where we lived on the Eastern Shore. Sometimes in the autumn, though, when driving through the country at night, I would run into pockets of heavy mist in the low, cool places, like the dip between two gentle hills. There had to have been more, especially along the Chesapeake Bay just a mile and half from the old homestead, but I never got up early enough to see!

UPDATE: Heh. Supposed to be in the 70s (F) for a while now. Just in time to get baked in the sun at the Pueblo on San Geronimo Day.
