Oh, man. It’s 3° (F) a little after midnight as I’m posting this video, and that about sums up the day.
My wife decided to walk first thing this morning, and I went along. I usually can’t rouse myself to exercise before the afternoon, but it was snowing, and I wanted to test my new Marmot “precip jacket.” It was about 16° at the time. This was an experiment in layering: I wore sweatpants, a T-shirt, a fleece pullover, and the jacket — I was never cold, except for my ears. After they went numb, it felt a lot better!
This one shows you some more of what I like to call the “real” New Mexico. Where the video starts is actually two-thirds of the way up the mesa — we’d already been walking for 15 minutes — where my wife finally stopped for a drink of water, giving me a chance to get out my camera. (She walks fast…) Just watching this makes want to go build up the fire, though. In fact, I think I’ll head straight for a hot bath right now.

lOVED SEEING YOUR WIFE
Yeah, I loved seeing her, too! Geez, 7° now… the woodstove is CRANKIN’…
John,
After reading you for years and watching your videos, I feel like I’ve gotten to know you a little bit, but it was nice to finally see and hear your better half.
She’s well worth seeing and hearing! Just hates to have her picture taken or be video’ed. She probably didn’t realize she was in that shot, to tell the truth.
