Terrible Beauty of Taos

Okay, I think it’s time for one of these. I shot this today.

I was going a little crazy again, trying to understand what was gnawing at me. I also had to decide if something I’d been attracted to recently was a great idea or suicide in disguise. For better or worse, I went out walking in the snow with my camera. Wouldn’t you know it, the terrible beauty sucked everything right out of me, including the gnawing and the dilemma. I mean, how can anyone argue with this? Either as the thing in itself or what it might stand for??

I didn’t mind the snow after taking a few more like this, either.

The vastness gets me every time… the SCALE of the landscape. Every time I want to escape, it pulls me back in.
