I could do this all day, taking pictures of the sky.
With the telephoto lens, I can walk around and zero in on special things. It’s a whole different way of thinking of a picture. This one here is from a larger image of winter clouds moving past a nearby mountain. The latter may not have a name, there’s so damn many, and I’ve yet to meet a Taoseño who can name all the big ones visible from town. Of course, I don’t get out much. Why is that, exactly?
What I like to do the most is go exploring, take pictures, and write about it afterwards. That doesn’t explain why I sit here every day fixing other people’s HTML instead, but it does bear on why it sometimes takes me so long. I am a glorious fraud. The power derived from walking intuitively in the boonies or driving down an unknown road is inestimable by comparison. In that activity, I lose myself completely. Just being out and in the moment will stimulate a more creative state of mind, and later I can write like a fiend.
We moved to Taos 10 and a half years ago. That was a revolution in its own right, forcing reinvention on all fronts. As is often the case with me, however, I managed not to go the extra mile and left the thing unfinished.
The days are getting longer now. I love this.
There are also fewer of them, surely.

What do you mean, you left the thing unfinished? Isn’t it a work in progress?
It’s a work in progress that I stopped working on for a long time because I was trying to escape.
Your “Sunday Sky ” pic is awesome….such texture….and vastness again. Love it John
