in New Mexico

Time for another photo break!

I think I took this from Overlook Park outside of White Rock, New Mexico–one hell of a strange town, about which more later–but if I’m wrong, it doesn’t matter. We’re in the vicinity of Tsankawi, and in any event, this is what it looks like south of here and over a ridge or two. The view is looking roughly east or northeast.

Thanks, John for the wonderful photos from your visit to Tsankawi. I lived in Los Alamos in 1972-73. It is an unusual place, like White Rock, as you know. I will never forget that awful fire in 2000 that destroyed so many homes in Los Alamos. Climbed the Hill of the Martyrs in Santa Fe that night and the smoke from the fire obscured the Jemez mountains completely. Glad there has been enough precipitation these past few years so that “el Norte” has been spared devastating fires.

Hi Mary! Yes, the spring runoff is above normal this year by quite a bit. Some flooding here and there. So it looks like it will be a green summer!
