It rained all afternoon the other day, starting while I was walking downtown. Except for a few tourists, the place was almost quiet, after a fashion. (You can read about it here.) I shot a little video, of course. Nothing fancy, just more atmospheric stuff. There’s a cool blacked-out Harley in there, something you might [...]
“I want to have a hangover for Teresa’s memorial, so let’s go get hammered,” my brother said. My own agenda that night in Austin had more to do with sleep, but duty called. We met my other sister’s boyfriend at the hotel and walked downtown to the first of several loud, dimly-lit establishments full of [...]
It took a family crisis to get me out of the house, but I went all the way to the heart of Texas… So strange to be back in Austin with the memories of my old life there alongside all that. Austin repelled and attracted. Raging pathos, powerful nostalgia. I discovered I had a body [...]
Some of the plums had already fallen, so I knew the others were ready to pick. As I stood there pulling them into the colander one by two, I heard the steady, whispered “whoop, whoop, whoop” of raven wings. At beat four he flew overhead and whoop-whooped out of sight. There were a lot of [...]
This is a very disturbing new video shot from a small plane over the Gulf of Mexico. You will see pods of dophins and a whale trapped inside the oil. The narrator explains that from his vantage point some 17 miles out into the Gulf, there is no clear water at all, nothing but oil. [...]
More goodies from that morning visit to the Rio Grande. This short video has four clips of the river that I know you’ll like. Aside from showing me I need to always use the monopod, I dig it, too.
Yes, I’m still here, behind the scenes, working on the ebook projects and keeping a low profile for another couple of weeks. I’ll be back with regular blogging before you know it, but it has been good to be quiet for a while. Meanwhile here in the terrible high desert, water is flowing through the [...]
Time for this one again! In case you missed the earlier post from last year, this is a drastically slowed down video of hummingbirds at a feeder. The amazing thing is the slowed down audio, however. You won’t believe what a simple hummingbird chirp sounds like when stretched out. Have a look (and listen):
I shot a bunch of video when I took that trip to Tsankawi–the abandoned Pueblo ruin near White Rock, New Mexico–but I was happy and excited, going nuts, so a lot of it came out tilted, crazy, or unusable. Looking through the clips again today, I found some that work and put this movie together. [...]
A new FarrFeed video shot while sitting outside after supper on this April evening in Taos, New Mexico.
